HAROLD NAPUALANI KA’AUMOANA KAMA JR, (aka H or H-Dawg) is a professional musician, entertainer, recording artist, and business owner from Hilo, Hawaii. He has recorded and performed with many of Hawaii’s premiere entertainers. Together with his wife, Michelle Malulani Kama, they own and operate Malu Productions Inc., a professional production company that specializes in Polynesian entertainment.
H first starting strumming on the ‘ukulele at the age of three. His first influences were his dad, Harold Sr. and grandfather, Kinney Ka’aumoana Kama, from Kalapana. The Kama’s house was always full of family & friends singing, playing music and sharing their talents. It was a hub for music, and jam sessions would last for days.
H is one of the new & unique breed of island musicians who sing in multiple languages, play an array of instruments, and perform various genres of music including traditional Polynesian forms. His music talents have placed him on-stage and in the studio with the likes of Willie K, Fiji, Mana’o Company, Kainani Kahaunaele, and more. His recording credits are as a producer, instrumentalist, arranger, composer and arranger are also very impressive.
He is definitely a performer to watch. His versatility, energy, and love for music, has won him the hearts of fans in over a dozen countries. H compares his music tastes to the two distinct types of Hawaiian lava flows, Pahoehoe (smooth) and A’a (rough).
To get everyone up and jumping, no one could have done it better than "H-Dawg." Awesome! Harold Kama, Jr. and his guys. Started with a Samoan acapella mele then rolled right into "Island Style", and continued on with killer tunes -- including "Hi`ilawe" and Harold's great tale of his Idaho talent contest adventure (some kick-a** country vocals set that audience, and this one, screaming and yelling). Oh yes, and the lumber yard joke (toooooo funny!) -- but the hana hou of "Hotel California" was classic Harold. For this fan, who hasn't had the opportunity to see him in a couple of years, his performance was more than I could have hoped for. He's da man.
